Leading the discussion is Dianne, a seasoned expert with a Master's in Gerontology from Virginia Commonwealth University. With nearly three decades of experience in senior living communities and a rich background as a trainer for the Alzheimer’s Association, she currently serves as the executive director of the Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition. Dianne’s wealth of knowledge and passion for this cause will inspire us all to make a meaningful impact. Let's embark on this journey of awareness and compassion together!

If you're unfamiliar with Reiki, fear not! You'll be in the hands of Shree, the passionate owner of Ascension Studio in KDH. She will introduce you to this beautiful practice, ensuring you feel completely at ease as you receive this loving energy transfer that leaves many feeling like they’re floating on clouds of bliss.

Meet Shree Fulcher, a nurturing soul with roots in Elizabeth City, NC, and a journey that brought her back to the sandy shores of the Outer Banks. Her story is one of transformation and divine guidance; after entering a life of sobriety in 2012, she dove headfirst into Yoga Teacher Training. "That’s all it took…” she reflects. “The nuances of the subtle body and the impact of trauma and emotion on our lives became my passion.”

Now, Shree is on a mission to help others reconnect with the more spiritual dimensions of their being. She seeks to create a ripple of peace and love across the globe through a blend of Yoga, Meditation, Sound Therapy, Crystal Therapy, Aromatherapy, and Reiki. Carolina Shag Dance Lessons

Discover the vibrant Carolina Shag, North Carolina’s official dance, with roots in the lively 1940s along the Atlantic Coast. This six-count Swing evolved from the jitterbug and jump blues, and its spirit thrives here on the Outer Banks.

Join us for a 3-session class where you’ll learn essential steps, footwork, and fun moves to get you ready for local gatherings with shag-style music! We’re keeping the class intimate with only four couples for personalized attention.

Meet your instructors, Michael and LaDonna Guida, experienced dancers who moved to the Outer Banks in 2023. Michael leads the Outer Banks Shag Club and is passionate about fostering the dance community.

Classes are on Wednesdays, February 12th, 19th, and 26th, starting at 7 PM and ending at 8:15 PM. Come dressed comfortably in shoes with non-rubberized soles, and let’s make unforgettable memories on the dance floor!

Head Over Heels for Honey

Depending on its nectar source, honey can be floral, fruity, smoky, woody, spicy, nutty or earthy. It can look as clear as water or as dark as molasses. Expand your honey horizons and become more engaged in your consumption of it with a deeper knowledge ... be more able to pinpoint authentic honey vs. the adulterated fake stuff! Denise will present lots of interesting information about how honey is created by this amazing beneficial pollinator, while you sample 10 different honeys* from around our country. *Note - You will be sampling raw honey.

A founding member and five-year past-president of the Outer Banks BeeKeepers’ Guild, DENISE DEACON has earned the accreditation of “Master Beekeeper” from the North Carolina State Beekeeper’s Association. Up to her elbows in honey bees for over 10 years, Denise’s passion for these winged creatures is evidenced by her dedicated time as a mentor to “new-bees” and as a local speaker.
