Polenta: A peasant dish to warm your heart
with Etta Lanuti
At All Saints
Come join me for a peasant meal of old Italy. My grandfather was a coal miner in Pennsylvania. When the youngest of his seven children was just six months old his beautiful wife died. He raised the children by himself. When the paycheck didn't quite stretch far enough, this was on the menu. My father grew up to be a chef in Manhattan. He was the head chef at the Barberry Room at the Berkshire Hotel on 52nd near Madison Avenue. Me? I just love to cook...and bake...and eat good food. Not fancy...just good, comforting food that warms your tummy and your soul.
